I'm so confused right now. If there is a ratio that is 1:2, is that the same as the fraction 1/2? Someone please help me.

Yes it is. They are the same thing.

A ratio is actually sort of a fraction. It is a comparison of two numbers that can be written like a fraction but does not represent the same thing as what a fraction does.
