A ladder is leaning against a wall. The base of the ladder is 5 feet away from the wall, and the ladder reaches 13 feet high on the wall. How long is the ladder?

RE: Question - Kevin - 05-14-2024

The ladder is 12 feet long.

Explanation: Use the Pythagorean theorem: a² + b² = c². Here, 5² + b² = 13². Solving for b, we get b = 12.
